Mississippi Automobile Dealers Association Meetings
In November, I was invited to speak at the Mississippi Automobile Dealers Association's (MADA) Regional Meeting in Hattiesburg. We had a great discussion about the most recent session as well as some of the top issues we'll be facing in January. I've had the privilege of working with this group many times at the Capitol, and I look forward to future collaboration to shape policies that benefit Mississippi and her people. Thank y'all for having me and giving me the chance to speak with you!
Railroad Overpass Ribbon Cutting
Last month, I attended the ribbon cutting for the Hall Ave. railroad overpass which was just completed. This project has been going on for about a year, but will have a significant impact on traffic and infrastructure. It allows traffic to continue flowing through a busy area even if trains are stopped. Senator Roger Wicker, one of Mississippi's two U.S. Senators, has worked diligently for years to get more funds into Mississippi for road and rail improvements. It was wonderful to spend some time with him!
PRVEPA Cooperative University
I joined my Senate colleague, Joey Fillingane, to speak with students at the Pearl River Valley EPA Cooperative University. It was a great opportunity to meet and speak with students about the important services cooperatives provide to Mississippi communities. Only two students from each school are selected to attend the University, and these students were very engaged and interested in learning more about leadership and industry within their communities. Thank y'all for having me!
NUCOR Tour
I enjoyed the opportunity to tour NUCOR's facility outside of Jackson last month. NUCOR is an international producer of steel and related products, and is the 16th largest steel company in the entire world. They have been a huge success story in Mississippi and offer great-paying jobs to several hundred Mississippians. It was fascinating to see firsthand how they products are made, and I greatly appreciate their invitation.
FCAHS Coin Toss
Fall is never complete without some football! I was honored to do the coin toss ahead of one of Forrest County Agricultural High School's football games. As an alumnus of FCAHS, it was such a privilege being back here to watch some high school football and talk students and fellow alumni. I was joined by my friend, Representative Larry Byrd, who has represented Petal and parts of Forrest County in the Mississippi House of Representatives for many years. It was a great experience, and I'm thankful to have had this opportunity!
I want to hear from you!
